This course is designed for individuals with little or no riding experience. As the title suggests, this class teaches the
basic techniques of riding a motorcycle. The course consists of 6 hours of classroom theory and 12 hours of practical application
(riding). Students will ride small (100-350cc) training motorcycles provided by SC Rider Education. Students must pass both a
written and riding assessment to receive a completion certificate. All others will receive a certificate of attendance.
Motorcycling requires physical and mental skills that people learn at different rates. Therefore, our measure of success in this
course is that you have a good learning experience while having fun. This course meets the standards set by SC law for an insurance
discount. Completion of this course does not qualify the student for a motorcycle license waiver. This course is not an
alternate to the driver education requirement for under 18 year-old drivers.
