Instructor-Rider Coach Training
The SC Technical College System – Motorcycle Education Program is recruiting individuals to enroll in a Rider Coach Preparation (RCP), formally known as Instructor Preparation Class (IP) in 2012. This is a demanding, 75 hour training class which qualifies successful graduates as SCTCS certified Motorcycle Instructors who are eligible to teach at a South Carolina technical college offering a motorcycle rider education classes.
Minimum Completion Requirements
- Display a proper attitude toward safe motorcycling
- Attend all classes
- Pass a riding skills assessment
- Pass a written assessment
- Student teach a beginners course
- Pass mentorship teaching
Minimum Candidate Qualifications
- Motorcyclist with 3 years riding experience with a current motorcycle endorsement (No Learner’s Permits you must have a “M” class license)
- Good driving record; No DUI’s - no more then 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
- At least 21 years of age
- Motivated, ready and willing to share their Joy of Motorcycling with others
- Teaching experience preferred but not required
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Currently owns and operates a street legal, insured, and registered motorcycle
*Personal motorcycles and safety gear required.
