Instructor Info

The SC Technical College System – Motorcycle Training Program is recruiting individuals to enroll in a Rider Coach Preparation (RCP), formally known as Instructor Preparation Class  (IP) in 2008.  This is a demanding, 75 hour training class which qualifies successful graduates as SCTCS certified Motorcycle Instructors who are eligible to teach at a SC Technical College offering a motorcycle rider education classes. 


Minimum Completion Requirements
  • Display a proper attitude toward safe motorcycling
  • Attend all classes
  • Pass a riding skills assessment
  • Pass a written assessment
  • Student teach a beginners course
  • Pass mentorship teaching

Minimum Candidate Qualifications
  • Motorcyclist with 3 years riding experience with a current motorcycle endorsement (No Learner’s Permits you must have a “M” class license)
  • Good driving record; No DUI’s - no more then 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Motivated, ready and willing to share their Joy of Motorcycling with others
  • Teaching experience preferred but not required
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Currently owns and operates a street legal, insured, and registered motorcycle

Place: Spartanburg Community College, Tyger River Campus (Room 306), Duncan, SC
Dates/Time: July 12 – 20, 2008 / 8am-5pm
Other: Personal motorcycles and safety gear required.

Place: Midlands Tech College, Beltline Campus, Lindau Building, Room 102, Columbia, SC         
Dates/Time: August 9 – 17, 2008 / 8am-5pm
Other: Personal motorcycles and safety gear required.

Place: Aiken Technical College
Dates/Times: September 6,7; 13,14; 20,21 / 8am-5pm
and September 26 / 6pm-10pm; 27-28 / 7am-5pm
Other: Personal motorcycles and safety gear required.
